Performance of CPS based on Citrix Provisioning Server
One of the most frequently asked questions about Citrix Provisioning Server (Ardence) is about the performance of the systems running with a streamed OS. What is the answer to the question? Well, Wilco van Bragt recently posted an article detailing his performance tests comparing traditionally installed operating systems versus operating systems streamed from Ardence. The tests involved Citrix Presentation server and user loads of 30, 45, 55 and 65 users. “The conclusion is that the performance between a physically installed server and an Ardence bases server are really comparable to each other. With fewer users the application usage performance is quicker with an Ardence based server, but adding more users the results are getting closer.”

Operating system means everything when working with server provisioning. Windows Server, any edition, seems to be rife with issues once provisioning begins. It’s a safer bet to stick with Linux when working with network issues or networks in general. Business that do often get better performances out of their applications and have less problems with things like migration.
