Profiles are still a problem with VDI - watch this video to learn about Virtual Profiles
Profile management has always ranked as one of the top concerns for Terminal Services administrators. Things like profile corruption, “last write wins”, profile bloat, logon speed, etc. are all things we learned about in Terminal Services environments. Guess what? This is still going to be an issue in the VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) space. Perhaps, this will even be more of an issue as profiles aren’t exactly easier in VDI - some would even consider profiles harder with VDI. There are several profile vendors that play in this space. One of those vendors is RTO Software. I recently interviewed RTO’s President and CEO, Kevin Goodman, about their Virtual Profile solution. This is a pretty cool product. Virtual Profiles “tricks” the OS into thinking that the profile downloaded (to speed up logon time) and synchronizes profile changes as they happen in real time (solves the last write win and profile bloat problems). Check out this video of the interview from Citrix Synergy.
