Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 for Free
Microsoft announced at their “Get Virtual Now” event that there will be a new Hyper-V on the block. This one is called Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008. This is not to be confused with the Hyper-V role of Windows Server 2008. Hyper-V Server 2008 will be more of a bare metal hypervisor. This bare metal hypervisor will be more in line with competing against VMware ESXi or Xen. Hyper-V Server 2008 is aimed at customers looking for a “…basic and simplified virtualization solution for consolidating servers as well as for development and test environments.” Oh yeah, did I mention that Microsoft is releasing Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 for free?
