Shutting down Windows Server 8 Developer Preview

Like many out there, I’ve been using the Windows Server 8 Developer Preview as a way to test the new features coming in Windows Server 8, including Hyper-V.  When I first started using the new OS, though, I was immediately struck by the lack of a Shutdown option on the new Metro-style Start menu.  I would be amazed if Microsoft doesn’t correct this issue by the time RTM hits, but for now, simply open a command prompt and issue a shutdown command to shut down your new server.  If you’d prefer to add your own shutdown tile to the Start menu, you can do that, too.  To learn how to do that, take it from Aidan Finn, a Hyper-V expert that ran across the same issue and identified the solution.
